Lawyers appointed to lead the Roundup multidistrict litigation have asked for more than 80% of the common benefit fees, drawing numerous objections from other plaintiffs’ firms.

In 2021, U.S. District Judge Vince Chhabria, overseeing the Roundup multidistrict litigation in the Northern District of California, substantially reduced the scope of the common benefit fees, which he found, at an estimated $800 million, were likely enough for the co-lead plaintiffs’ firms to “each afford to buy their own island.”
