Davis Wright Tremaine has laid off 21 professional staff, the Am Law 100 firm confirmed on Tuesday, pointing to “excess capacity,” anticipated workflows and “the way we work continuing to evolve.”

The Seattle-based firm — becoming the latest in a string of Big Law names to announce layoffs — told its workforce in a memo issued Monday that, while it was a difficult decision, it would enable Davis Wright to invest in other areas of strategic value or high demand.
