Two licensed Virginia attorneys brought their fight over a one-third contingency fee as agreed to in a one-page engagement letter before the Virginia Court of Appeals.

The appeals court upheld a lower court ruling in which attorney Adam J. Deno prevailed over his his former supervisor-turned-client, Stephen Moncrieffe—finding Moncrieffe owes Deno approximately $9,157.50, according to the opinion filed Tuesday.
