ALSPs IN VR - In the past, where law firms have gone, alternative legal service providers have often followed closely behind. And what better environment for a tech-savvy business to thrive in than the metaverse, where some firms have ventured over the past year? But ALSPs aren’t rushing into anything, Law.com’s Cassandre Coyer reports. As firms’ limited interactions with clients in the metaverse have shown, the market for legal services in the virtual space is still small. That doesn’t mean, however, that the thought hasn’t crossed ALSP leaders’ minds. “We are having a lot of conversations about whether it would be creative to have a placement in the metaverse or have an office in the metaverse or something like that, really more as a branding or a marketing or an innovative kind of representation of ourselves, versus actual practical use case at the moment,” said Pratik Patel, co-founder and head of innovation at Elevate.
ON THE RADAR - World Wrestling Entertainment and former CEO Vince McMahon, who recently resigned over sexual assault allegations, were hit with a shareholder derivative lawsuit Saturday in Delaware Court of Chancery. The suit, which is not publicly available, was brought by Christensen & Dougherty on behalf of Carol Casale and Chrystal Lavalle. Counsel have not yet appeared for the defendant.
