A Detroit-area personal injury attorney was convicted this week by a federal jury for filing false tax returns and omitting over $2.6 million in income concealed in his attorney trust account, the Department of Justice announced Thursday.

Carl L. Collins III, a solo practitioner in Southfield, Michigan, who also owned a real estate company, First Third LLC, and two medical-related companies, MedCity Rehabilitation Services LLC and Alpha Living LLC, was found guilty of failing to report over $2.6 million in income over a period of years.
