The Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court upheld a trial court’s order denying Exxon Mobil Corp.’s anti-SLAPP motion to dismiss a consumer protection lawsuit filed by the state Attorney General’s Office accusing the oil giant of providing false information to investors and consumers about its fossil fuel products.

Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey filed a lawsuit against Exxon Mobil in 2019 alleging that it misled investors about the risks that climate change posed to its business and marketed its products to consumers as “green,” while ramping up on fossil fuel production.
