Saskia Mermans has been group general counsel of the Brussels-headquartered bank-insurer KBC Group since 2014, and previously held top legal roles at Belgacom (now known as Proximus) and Deutsche Bank. In a recent interview with Law.com International, Mermans, who oversees a team of around 90 people, discussed her transition from telecoms to the financial industry, working with outside counsel during the pandemic, and the importance of holidays.
