Layoffs and shrinking budgets are keeping legal department leaders up at night. And to avoid more staff and budget cuts, in-house legal teams are looking to perform more e-discovery and pre-litigation tasks internally, according to an Exterro report.

On Wednesday, Exterro Inc. released its annual “In-House Legal Benchmarking Report,” which surveyed 180 in-house legal professionals. Despite potential litigation stemming from COVID-19 and emerging data privacy regulations, 57% of in-house lawyers identified economic pressures as what they are “most worried about,” according to the report.
