Parkland Health & Hospital System Names New General Counsel
Parkland Health & Hospital System announced that an attorney who has worked at the hospital system since 2001 has been named its top lawyer.

Steve Roth, executive vice president and general counsel of Parkland Health & Hospital System.
A longtime in-house attorney at Dallas-based Parkland Health & Hospital System was named the organization's executive vice president and general counsel Dec. 20.
Steven Roth, who has been employed at Parkland Health since 2001, will also serve as the chief counsel for Parkland Community Health Plan Inc. and as chief counsel for the Parkland Center for Clinical Innovation. Roth most recently served as the interim general counsel at Parkland after Paul Leslie left the role earlier in 2018 to take a job as partner at Estes Thorne & Carr in Dallas, according to his LinkedIn profile.
Roth was not available for comment Friday.
Roth was hired as a staff attorney and has held the roles of associate general counsel and senior deputy general counsel at Parkland. According to a news release, Roth was at the helm of the legal initiative to turn PCCI into a separate nonprofit research center and software development corporation. He also led Parkland's legal team in the bond financing for the new Parkland campus.
Before joining Parkland, Roth worked at Jackson Walker in Dallas and worked on corporate transactions and health care issues. He has also worked as a contract manager and attorney at WellCare Management Group, Inc. He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh School Of Law in 1992. He also has a Master of Public Health degree from the Harvard University School of Public Health, according to his LinkedIn profile. Roth also serves as a board member of the Business Council for the Arts and is a board member of the Dallas Zoo, according to the news release.
Parkland first opened in 1894 and is one of the largest public hospital systems in the country, according to its website.
