U.S. District Judge Lewis Kaplan of the Southern District of New York on Thursday denied former President Donald Trump’s motion for a new trial in the case that led to an $83 million verdict for E. Jean Carroll, rejecting Trump’s argument that the outcome was affected by errors at trial.

“The motion is without merit for the numerous and compelling reasons articulated by Ms. Carroll in her opposition,” Kaplan wrote, referring to the brief filed by Carroll’s attorney Roberta Kaplan of Kaplan Hecker & Fink in March.
