A jury in the Southern District of New York has awarded $83.3 million to E. Jean Carroll, the writer who sued former President Donald Trump for defamation after he said that she made up a sexual assault allegation against him.

Carroll held hands with her lawyers, Roberta Kaplan and Shawn Crowley of Kaplan Hecker & Fink, as the verdict was read after less than three hours of deliberations Friday afternoon.
