After nearly seven years of litigation surrounding the 2015 Amtrak train derailment that killed eight people and injured many more, the engineer who helmed the train during the crash is slated to face a jury Thursday.

The criminal case in Philadelphia Common Pleas Court against Brandon Bostian is headed to trial following a series of appeals alternately dropping and reinstating the charges against him. The case set to be presented to the jury, which will consider counts of causing catastrophe, involuntary manslaughter and recklessly endangering another person, marks the third round of charges brought against Bostian since 2017.
