It’s hard to believe that flexible resourcing pioneer Lawyers on Demand – now LOD – started life in 2007 as a small department within Berwin Leighton Paisner (BLP). The company – which is hoping to expand soon to the US – now has seven offices, 600 lawyers and consultants on its books, and more than 500 corporate and law firm clients.
Not bad for a business that co-founder Simon Harper, then a partner at BLP, says he dreamt up while sitting on a Caribbean beach during a “rare moment of calm” on a family holiday in 2006.
