Baltic financial markets and economies are gradually recovering from the recession triggered by the financial crisis of 2008-09. The economic growth of the ‘Baltic Tigers’ prior to the crisis was significantly part financed by debt – largely foreign – thus exposing the countries and their residents to vulnerability and liquidity issues once the crisis set in.
