Taylor Wessing Paris litigation head Paul-Albert Iweins has won the battle to become chairman of the French Bar Council, narrowly beating Gide Loyrette Nouel heavyweight Jean-Marie Burguburu.

Iweins and Burguburu were put to the second ballot on Saturday (14 January) after the first round, which also included independent lawyer Jean-Michel Hocquard, saw the three secure 38, 34 and five votes respectively.
