Corporate counsel still regularly go off-panel when instructing law firms, according to new research, despite the survey of 100 in-house lawyers delivering an overwhelming thumbs-up for the panel model.

In the latest Legal Week Benchmarker survey, conducted in association with Eversheds, 73% of in-house lawyers said they still appoint firms outside their formal roster. In a related finding, 40% said that they would follow a key relationship partner to another firm rather than continue with the previous firm.
