European Union (EU) politicians are threatening court action against their own member governments over plans to force through a watered down version of the controversial Legal Aid Directive.
A group of members of the European Parliament (MEPs), led by UK Liberal Democrat MEP Diana Wallis, is threatening to take the EU Council of Ministers to the European Court of Justice if it attempts to push through an amended Legal Aid Directive before 1 January, 2003.
