The Diary was heartened this week to learn that a number of the world’s top law firms gave up an evening of valuable billing time to raise money for the BBC’s Children In Need at a quiz night in Brussels.

The event at the swanky Concert Noble ballroom – which was hosted by former Labour Party leader and current EU commissioner Neil Kinnock – succeeded in raising more than £20,000 for the charity.
