Rather like the debate about whether Britain should enter the Euro, the debate over whether Herbert Smith is part of the magic circle or not also attracts strenuous argument.
One view that sums up the ‘No’ camp is this comment from a sarcastic City partner: “Put it this way, if Herbert Smith had to fulfil Gordon Brown’s five economic conditions to join the magic circle they’d never be in it.”
