It is just over two years since Legal Week revealed that the senior partners of the top eight City firms had called time on their unofficial ‘no poaching’ agreement.
At the time none of the firms in the so-called ‘Club of Eight’ – Clifford Chance, Freshfields, Linklaters, Allen & Overy (A&O), Slaughter and May, Lovells, Norton Rose and Herbert Smith – would confirm the existence of anything so formal.
