Leading Spanish corporate firm Melchor de las Heras has opted not to join the Commercial Law Affiliates (CLA) Europe alliance launched earlier this year, despite being a long-time member of the global CLA referrals network.

Rafael Suarez de Lezos, the firm’s senior partner, has revealed to Legal Week that the firm does not want to join the CLA Europe initiative preferring to stay open to the possibility of an alliance or merger with an English firm. “Initially, alliance would be preferable, then possibly followed by a full merger,” Suarez de Lezos added.
