Two sets of technology suppliers to the legal sector on either side of the Atlantic have formed alliances to deliver integrated software packages that promise to save firms time and money.

Elite joins Solicitec
National firm Beachcroft Wansbroughs acted as a tester for the product – an integrated case management, practice management and automated billing system devised by Elite Information Systems and Solicitec.
The two technology suppliers signed a strategic alliance in June after market research suggested that they had several clients in common.
Mark Woodward, managing director at Solicitec, admitted that the move followed repeated requests for closer integration between the companies’ products from their joint clients.
According to Elite spokesperson, Heidi Izzard, firms using the integrated system will not have to maintain both systems separately and the workload on support staff, from secretaries to IT technicians and information services staff, will be significantly reduced.
Information generated by, or stored in, any of the system’s components can be accessed from the same ‘front end’ displayed on a computer screen.
David Thorpe, general manager for Elite in Europe, said: “We reviewed the majority of the UK’s case management systems to find a suitable ally.”
Stuart Holden, managing director of Axxia, one of Elite’s main competitors, agreed that many customers in the legal sector wanted to buy fully-integrated software packages.
He said Axxia’s products were also capable of full integration with Solicitec’s SolCase practice management system.
Jeffrey Ng, information director at Beachcroft Wansbroughs, said that integration between the two products – which formed the cornerstone of the firm’s IT strategy – was imperative.
Ng said: “Elite and Solicitec worked together to ensure that the integration was seamless.
“The transfer of matter-related and time recording information between the systems is transparent to the users… this leaves them able to work uninterrupted.”
