Following years of contentious negotiations, four U.S. law firms and more than a dozen firms in Brazil have consummated a consensual, cross-border restructuring of approximately $4.8 billion in debt owed by Brazilian mining company Samarco Mineração.

Davis Polk & Wardwell partners in London, New York and São Paulo represented the ad hoc group of creditors in coordination with Brazilian firms Padis Mattar Advogados, Ferro, Castro Neves, Daltro & Gomide Advogados and Resende Ribeiro e Reis Advogados.
