Jessica Kerslake began her journey at Allen & Overy in 2004 as a trainee and, in 2021, she became one of the first two Black partners in the London office. As part of Black History Month, Jess reflects on the journey and shares her advice for others looking to blaze trails of their own.


As part of Allen & Overy’s Black History Month celebrations this year, I took part in a project with a local secondary school. I asked the students why BHM was important, and their replies really resonated with me. They said it was an opportunity for Black people to learn about and celebrate their culture, and for other people to learn about it too.
