Women should resist the pressure to have to network in the way that men do, according to a group of senior industry figures.

Speaking at this year’s Women, Influence and Power in the Law conference in London, Emma Humphrey, general counsel at Time Out Group, explained that women “tend to lead more with stuff that’s not about their job”. She added: “It’s interesting that women seem to want to create real relationships—I’m not looking to get something straight away out of that conversation. It doesn’t have to always be transactional.”
