My mum Gail Haresign was exactly who I wanted to be when I grew up. She was the best mum, an incredible career woman yet down to earth and friendly. Her smile would light up a room. She worked in the Civil Service since she was 16 progressing to a senior position and eventually being awarded an Order of the British Empire (OBE) for her career achievements.

My mum was my inspiration. Despite her having little assistance in her career and no chance at going to university, she achieved her goals and became a woman that people admired, including myself. Watching my mum in her career inspired me to pursue my own and be the first person in our family to attend University. She was there to support me through every step of the way. She assisted with proofreading my applications, conducting pretend interviews and was there for every rejection to pick me back up again.
