On the dark green benches on both sides of the House of Commons are dozens of lawyers who worked for many years in commercial practice before they were elected.
Their legal training, they say, has proved invaluable and perhaps explains why some great leaders in history have been lawyers. But there is also a feeling that fewer lawyers are likely to make the same career change nowadays.
