The U.K. Supreme Court has found in favour of Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaidó, in his legal battle with the country’s embattled President Nicolás Maduro as part of the long-awaited verdict on who has control of nearly $2 billion of gold held with the Bank of England.

Delivering the court’s verdict this morning, Lord Lloyd-Jones said that the justices were in agreement that U.K. courts are “bound to accept the statements of Her Majesty’s Government which establish Mr. Guaido is recognised as the constitutional interim President of Venezuela.”
