The International Bar Association’s Human Rights Institute and the Clooney Foundation for Justice, founded by human rights lawyer Amal Clooney and her husband, actor George Clooney, are weighing in on a case in Zimbabwe in which a prominent lawyer has been barred from defending her client, an investigative journalist.

“Zimbabwean authorities must allow lawyers to do their jobs rather than trying to gag them,”  Amal Clooney said in a statement. “Those facing prosecution in Zimbabwe, including journalists and peaceful protesters, are entitled to effective representation.”
