Linklaters reopened its London base on Thursday, joining other law firms in the move to return its people to offices.

The firm confirmed it has re-opened the office on Silk Street following a survey of its London staff. In a statement it said the decision has been made to allow access to ”anybody who has said they are finding it difficult – including from a health and wellbeing perspective – to continue to work remotely”.

The firm added that appropriate social distancing measures are being taken and that the “majority” of its people are continuing to work from home.

The move follows the decision by the firm to reopen its German bases already. Its Frankfurt, Hamburg, Düsseldorf, Berlin and Munich bases currently operating at 50% capacity.

Fellow Magic Circle outfit Allen & Overy also began letting limited amounts of people back to its London base on Monday, while other rival firms are also preparing to reopen their London offices.

In February, Linklaters signed a lease for its new London headquarters in Moorgate, with the firm’s partners expecting the current climate to affect how the new space is organised and used.
