Global cruise company Carnival was negligent in its duty of care to passengers in going ahead with a cruise from Australia that led to a major COVID-19 outbreak among passengers, a judge has ruled in a class action lawsuit against Carnival.

Federal Court of Australia Justice Angus Stewart also found Carnival and its subsidiary Princess Cruises misled passengers that it was reasonably safe for them to embark on the cruise and that the company would take reasonable care for their safety during the cruise.
