Data Governance Unlocked: Finding Robust Solutions for Effective Data Management

Kimberly Wong is the Head of Global Brands, Privacy and Digital, Senior Corporate Counsel, at Kellanova, a snacks-led powerhouse creating better days and a place at the table for everyone through our trusted food brands, such as Cheez-It(R), Pringles(R), and Pop-Tarts(R). Prior to joining Kellanova (formerly Kellogg Company), Kimberly was on the legal teams at Caterpillar Inc. and McDonald’s Corporation, and an associate at Baker & Hostetler LLP. She received her B.A. from Smith College and her J.D. from Rutgers School of Law – Camden.

Shannon Clark is Global Director and Associate General Counsel, Data Protection & Privacy for CBRE Group. Shannon leads CBRE’s Global Data Protection Office and is responsible for CBRE’s Global Data Protection and Privacy Program, which seeks to embed an effective and operationally efficient global data ethics and compliance framework and privacy-respectful culture to ensure CBRE achieves its business objectives in an ethical and legally compliant manner. Shannon is also a member of CBRE’s Women’s Network and Chicago DE&I Council.

Corey Varma is Global Head of Privacy and Compliance at BISSELL Homecare, where he manages a global privacy and compliance program. He focuses his efforts on building privacy awareness and fostering a culture of compliance with a diverse set of regulatory regimes. Corey has become a trusted partner to his in-house clients on cutting-edge privacy law and cybersecurity issues, including enterprise data governance and recent advances in generative AI.

"Jennifer Abernathy is the director of data privacy and compliance counsel for AAR CORP. In this role, Jennifer designs and implements AAR’s global privacy program and advises on privacy and compliance legal matters. She also established the data governance committee at AAR and currently serves as chairperson. Her previous experience includes more than twelve years as in-house counsel and chief compliance officer for a financial institution where she designed, implemented, and managed a comprehensive compliance program, was an executive sponsor of data governance, and provided general legal advice to all areas of the business.
Jennifer is admitted to practice law in Illinois. She obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from Western Michigan University as a full Medallion Scholar, and she acquired a Juris Doctor from Chicago-Kent College of Law.
Jennifer is accredited as Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US and CIPP/E) and Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM) by the International Association of Privacy Professionals.

Adam’s practice focuses on discovery and information governance. As part of Shook’s Data and Discovery Strategies group, Adam advises clients on best practices for preservation, collection, processing, review and production as part of the discovery process. He has experience in preparing and negotiating protective orders and production protocols, as well as opposing “discovery on discovery” efforts.

Adam volunteers with The Electronic Discovery Institute, a nonprofit organization that studies litigation processes and produces educational programs for the benefit of the federal and state judiciary. He spearheads EDI’s Spoliation Guide, a 50-state case survey intended to aid practitioners who need more information than they can find in a case law primer, whether to prepare for a strategy session with outside counsel or a client or a meet-and-confer with an adversary.

Adam received his JD at the Syracuse University School of Law in 2017.
