CVS Pharmacy has agreed to pay $1.5 million to settle claims that some of its stores in Nassau and Suffolk counties failed to swiftly report when opioids were lost or stolen.

CVS, the largest pharmacy chain in the United States, violated a requirement under the Controlled Substances Act that pharmacies report lost or stolen drugs in a timely manner so that the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration can promptly investigate, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York.
