A product liability lawsuit has been filed in federal court in Connecticut against drugmaker Merck & Co. Inc. on behalf of a 22-year-old woman who took the human papillomavirus, or HPV, vaccine as a teenager and then experienced a host of serious health issues, including daily seizures, convulsions and vision loss.

Attorneys for Higganum resident Korrine Herlth said they believe attorneys specializing in product liability and personal injury cases will be paying special interest to the Connecticut lawsuit filed Tuesday and seven others filed against the company since the fall of 2020.
