Generative AI is steadily finding its place in the U.K. legal market, with many legal professionals bracing for the impact it will have on their client relationships and business operations, according to “Generative AI and the future of the legal profession” report by LexisNexis.

The report, a survey of over 1,000 legal professionals in the U.K., conducted from May 24 to June 6, 2023, found that many in the U.K legal market are paying close attention to the novel technology. A wide majority, 87%, of survey respondents have heard of generative AI, while almost half (46%) believe it will have some impact on the practice of law, and over a third (38%) see it having significant impact. In addition, a minority, 11%, predict its impact will be transformational.
