Irish law firm duo Matheson and A&L Goodbody are acting alongside US firm Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld on Royalty Pharma's so far unsuccessful $6.5bn (£4.3bn) bid for Irish pharma giant Elan, which earlier this month appointed former A&L Goodbody senior corporate partner John Given as its new general counsel. US investment firm Royalty Pharma has made several approaches for the Irish drugmaker, the latest of which was rejected last week. In a statement on 6 March, Royalty Pharma said it was "disappointed" the Elan board had not engaged in discussions on the latest proposal, but stated it was ready to move quickly and could complete due diligence in 20 days.
