DLA Piper has taken a lead role for Samsung C&T on its acquisition of a 15% stake in the Don Valley Power Project, one of Europe’s biggest carbon capture and storage (CCS) projects. The landmark project has seen 2Co Energy secure planning permission for the $4.8bn (£3bn) development of a coal gasification plant in Derbyshire that will generate 650MW of power and capture 90% of its entire CO2 output. Construction is expected to start in 2013.
