Until 2009, corporate transactions involving Spanish stock companies (sociedades de capital) were regulated by the Royal Legislative Decree 1564/1989 of 22 December on public limited companies (sociedades anonimas, or SAs) and by Law 2/1995 of 23 March on limited liability companies (sociedades limitadas, or SLs).
