Addleshaw Goddard has asked its fee earners to work a four-day week on 85% pay, as further details emerge of the national firm's plans to cope with the tough economic climate. If the majority of lawyers approve the proposal, then the firm will consider implementing the system for a 12-month period from 1 July. A firm spokesperson said: "If this option is agreed, a reduction in hours would not happen automatically. By agreeing to temporarily vary their terms and conditions for 12 months, individuals agree that at any point in the next 12 months they could be asked to work a 80% week for 85% of their usual salary, if the firm determines it is necessary based on capacity and workflow."
