Denton Wilde Sapte has appointed six new partners in this year’s round of promotions.

The promotions mark a 50% drop on last year when the firm made up 12 lawyers to the partnership.

Half of the City firm’s promotions came in its energy and infrastructure practice, with Udayan Mukherjee, Tammy Samuel and Almas Zhaiylgan made up the partnership.

Matthew Cox and Sarah Dyke were promoted in banking and finance, while the partner headcount in corporate increased by one with the addition of Dean Alderton.

Geographically, Dentons’ Middle East practice took in the lion’s share of the promotions, with the Dubai office seeing two new partners and the Almaty office seeing one.

The firm’s City headquarters received two new partners, with the remaning promotion in Singapore.

Chief executive Howard Morris said: “These appointments, with a weighting in favour of our international offices, follow on from our strategy of supporting significant growth in key emerging markets during the last financial year.”

Last November Dentons posted 6% H1 revenue growth, with the firm attributing most of the growth to its Middle East practice, which enjoyed a 59% increase against 2007.

News of the promotions comes after Dentons last month completed a redundancy programme that saw the loss of 76 positions within the firm, including 37 fee earners.

The job losses came after the firm reviewed 80 roles in its London and Milton Keynes offices.
