“I have heard nothing but negativity from legal recruitment agencies about the state of the market for NQs in 2009. They are pretty much all saying “there are plenty of jobs in insolvency and employment!” which does not really help someone who has not been able to do a seat in this area.

“For business reasons, my employer was unable to let me do a seat in the area I hoped to specialise in (employment) but I have attained nine months experience in family, six months in commercial property and three months in commercial litigation.

“Is it worth applying for NQ employment positions, given I have a genuine interest in this area and have 12 months ‘contentious’ experience? Or should I be applying for family or commercial property jobs, even though property jobs seem few and far between in the current climate?”
