Freshfields moves to freeze associate lockstep
Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer has become the first UK law firm to freeze assistant lockstep, with the magic circle firm telling staff today (9 February) that salaries for associates and business support staff will be held. The pay freeze is effectively a cut for lawyers, as it means associates will not progress through to the next pay band, leaving an associate moving towards two year's experience on £73,000 - the rate set for a one-year qualified lawyer last year.
