Career Clinic: Will firms keep trainees on in 2009?
"Like many of those coming to the end of their training contracts, I am worried about the current market and what the market will be like for newly-qualified jobs for those in September 2009? My firm, a national top 20 practice, has given no indication as to how many trainees will be kept on. Is this common in the current market for other firms?"Also, my firm has recruited in in recent years in the areas I am interested in - would it be too early to start looking at alternative firms or should I first see what my firm has to say and then start looking?"
