The Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) has officially launched a 12-week consultation to review the regulation of the Qualified Lawyers Transfer Scheme (QLTS). The review, the first re-evaluation of its kind in 18 years, will address issues such as accessibility, qualification routes and competence levels for qualified lawyers coming into the UK.Under the proposed QLTS, which is set to take effect in two years time, the SRA will introduce three separate assessment schemes: one for qualified UK solicitors, one for overseas lawyers qualified in international jurisdictions and an aptitude test for lawyers qualified in Europe.
