More than 10,000 disputes in 2007 were resolved in the UK through arbitration and mediation. The majority of these disputes were located in London and involved international parties according to IFSL’s report on international dispute resolution in London. The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators handled most referrals at 2,882, closely followed by the London Maritime Arbitrators’ Association with 2,751.

Disputes in the London Court of International Arbitration grew to a record 137 in 2007 but this is set to be exceeded in 2008 with 134 disputes filed in the first eight months of the year.
