“I know I risk being mocked by everyone, but have decided to ask this question anyway… I am due to qualify next year and want to qualify into corporate. I am currently at a silver circle/US firm. For a man (yes, I realise this is where you mock me!), I am looking to move to one of the top firms in Cardiff, since that is where he lives. I think I would still get a good level of work out there, but if I decide that I miss London too much and I want to come back, have I shot myself in the foot? Would it be better to get a few years in the City under my belt first? I am not moving to escape the hours – I’m quite willing to earn my stripes and the pay cut will also hurt – but is it worth taking a chance on Wales or will it be hard to get London firms to look at me again?”
