Superstar Lovells real estate chief Bob ‘Robert’ Kidby has cunningly hedged his bets by investing in a barge. The narrowboat is apparently dry-docked up near King’s Cross, doubtless so Bob can keep his beady eye on the £2bn regeneration that his firm is advising developer Argent St George on and that is set to transform the area into something marginally less ghastly.

Rumours that the six-string specialist will be converting the vessel into a floating jazz palace from which to throw impromptu summer concerts are yet to be confirmed.
