Clifford Chance (CC) has been hit with a sexual discrimination claim by a former employee, with the City giant set to defend itself in court next month.

Maia Christie, who was a solicitor with the magic circle firm in Budapest for more than 10 years, claims that CC discriminated against her after she fell pregnant. The claim alleges that CC failed to pay her the contractual maternity package described on the firm’s internal website and that she was the only fee earner in the Budapest office who did not receive a pay-rise in July 2004.
