Despite the difficulties involved in setting up shop in Croatia, a clutch of Italian and Austrian law firms are competing with Zagreb’s small band of local advisers to cash in on the country’s real estate boom. Heather O’Brian reports

Croatia’s beautiful seaside is an increasingly popular destination, both for tourists and for a growing number of commercial property investors seeking to cash in on the tourism windfall. Shopping centres, office space and commercial property projects in general are proving as popular as the traditional hotel or apartment investments. This is helping to drive a building boom throughout the country, which in turn is contributing to booming property practices for the law firms practising in this Balkan state.
