SJ Berwin has moved to tackle claims of associate discontent by overhauling its associate representative body as it emerges that just one of its lawyers came close to achieving the target hours required to get the maximum reward in its controversial bonus system.

The City firm has shaken up the representative committee to ensure it includes elected members from all departments in the firm. The 14-member body, dubbed the ‘Assistant Solicitors’ Forum’, previously operated informally but will now meet monthly to discuss issues with management.
